RE Enrichment Day Thursday 27th November

The school took part in the first of our RE Enrichment days of the school year. The focus of the day was Advent and the nativity story as seen through the lens of different characters. The day began with Collective Worship in church, in which Jo led us through the journey of the Old Testament that we have been exploring in Collective Worship this term. This led to finding out about the way in which John the Baptist declared that everyone should get ready for the Light of the World. 

In class, the children explored the story of nativity through different characters, including the 4th Wiseman and the Three Wise Women. Each class had a different text and created writing and artwork based on each, much of which is now displayed in school.

During a quiet and reflective Collective Worship at the start of the afternoon, the colours of Advent and Christmas were explored and the Advent wreath was lit. In house teams, the children created decorations in each of the colours and considered the importance and significance of each.
