Sandpiper Class have worked incredibly hard over the past few weeks to choreograph their class dance to the theme 'Under the Sea'. We performed our dance at Campus West along with other local schools.
Sandpiper Class enjoyed taking part in the annual Setpoint STEM K'Nex Challenge. This year they designed and made rockets with detachable thrusters and capsules. Well done to Callum and Finley for being the class winners! Their design will be judged alongside over 300 winners across the country - good luck!
Thank you to the Year 6s for organising an engaging and interesting Science Fair for the whole school to visit - what a fantastic way to start Science Week! Topics included magnets, earth and space, rocks, light, and electricity. In class, we investigated light and refraction. We used prisms, glasses of water and Newton discs to help us understand how light is distorted when travelling through transparent objects and that white light is a combination of all the colours found in the rainbow.
Well done to our Year 5&6 netballers who attended the friendly festival at Stanborough. Through fantastic team work and perseverance, they won all three games!
Mrs Moxham, our Stanborough Schools Sports Partner, led an indoor athletics session for Sandpiper Class. We enjoyed taking part in activities such as long jump, triple jump, hurdles, speed bounce and chest push.
Sandpiper Class held a tea tasting to help them set the scene for our class book. We enjoyed the cosy feeling of sitting with a warm tea amongst friends whilst we learnt about the history of tea plantations and how tea is grown.
We enjoyed preparing, cooking and tasting a range of foods from around the world. We developed our knife skills when chopping and slicing vegetables, we used a hob to soften vegetables, kneaded and proved dough, and had to be particularly careful when rolling filo pastry to make spring rolls and samosas.
Well done to our team of 10 children in Year 5&6 for attending the tag rugby festival at Welwyn Rugby Club. They showed brilliant teamwork throughout their wins and draws!
Esmee is a keen cyclist - she is the national youth champion for time trials and has recently been selected for the GB cycling team! She spoke to Sandpiper Class about how she first became interested in cycling, her training schedule, and competitions. She shared brilliant messages about perseverance and resilience too!

Class 4 performed in the Music Concert. They sang and played their own accompaniment,
Live news broadcasts - English We have been reading 'Boy in the Tower' as part of our English unit. We wrote and filmed some live news broadcasts reporting on the buildings falling without warning and the unexplained deaths around Camberwell. Our broadcasts needed to explain the events and facts clearly, use appropriate vocabulary, use present and past perfect tense, and have a little bit of speculation in too!
